INCA grad nabs national reporting award
From the INCA classroom to the national stage, Jamin Mike has done First Nations University of Canada proud! The Canadian Association of Journalists has selected him as a finalist for this year’s Emerging Indigenous Reporters Award, jointly sponsored by Journalists for Human Rights.
The award nomination is for work Jamin did during a three-month fellowship at The Tyee, a BC-based online news outlet. “Being nominated for an emerging Indigenous reporter award is something that I will carry for the rest of my life,” he said.
“I definitely feel inspired to continue writing and honing the best of my storytelling abilities. I sometimes feel undeserving of such a nomination, but I do feel that my years studying and practicing to do this are beginning to work out for the better.”
